Top Ten Tuesday was originally put together by The Broke and the Bookish and has been taken over by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s theme is Winter TBRs! Now, I’m not one for making a set TBR but I do keep a “tbr asap” shelf on Goodreads meant for books I’d like to prioritize. This doesn’t always mean I get to them quickly, but it is helpful for remembering which reads I’m anticipating! Today I plan to list books that it seems likely I’ll read before spring (which is June 21st here).

I received an ARC of this a few months ago and am really excited to get to it, especially after seeing some glowing reviews from friends. I think I’ll probably read it during Short-a-thon, since it seems like a quick read.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet
I won a beautiful paperback copy of this in a giveaway, but just haven’t had a chance to get to it yet. Hopefully over the next month or two, though!

I bought a hardcover copy of this when I was visiting Rachel AGES ago and keep putting off reading it because, to be quite honest, I’m a little scared to. I’m paranoid enough as is, but know I’ll definitely want to get to it sometime soon.

My friend bought me this for my birthday in MARCH and it’s still sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. Why are owned TBRs the hardest to tackle???

I think I mentioned this somewhere in a previous post, BUT my sister owns a copy of this and has recommended it to me a couple times. I’m really hoping to get to it soon, and winter seems like an appropriate time to read it.

The Raven King (The Raven Cycle #4)
I bought this in October while visiting my bff Grace in Austin, TX. I know once I start it I won’t be able to put it down, but I’m having trouble picking it up for whatever reason!

I’m actually about halfway through this right now and may finish it before winter officially starts (on the 21st), but it’s overdue to the library so I may have to finish it later! Either way, I’m enjoying it a lot and will definitely finish it before spring.
So, do you all have any books you plan to read over the winter? Feel free to drop the links to your own Top Ten Tuesday posts in the comments so I can check them out. Thanks for reading! 🙂
YAY GHOST WALL! My birthday is also in March and I am sure I also have unread books from that occasion. And I rly hope you like I’ll Be Gone in the Dark!

Thanks!! I have pretty high hopes for all of these, so I’m excited to get to them. 🙂 Ghost Wall has been staring at me from the living room table and I can’t wait to dig in! I’ll probably start it on Friday.

I recently tried to read I’ll Be Gone In the Dark but I DNF it. It wasn’t that it was too scary- it was just that I got tired of reading about some lunatic doing terrible things to people. It seemed like that’s all it was.

I think someone should conduct a scientific study of how and why physical TBR books lose their luster; I would really like to know, haha. I think for me it’s because in part they’re so accessible?? They’re not going anywhere, so no pressure to read them…
One book on my winter TBR is Half Spent was the Night: A Witch’s Yule. A very seasonal read!

I think that’s definitely a huge part of it for me! I wish they would do a study, haha. It’s really interesting wondering where we all get these habits! That looks like a super fun book, I hope you love it 🙂

I hadn’t heard of Ghost Wall before, but it sounds so cool and now I’m super excited to hear your thoughts on it! I also really want to read I’ll Be Gone in the Dark soon, but I keep putting it off for the same reasons haha. And The Raven King is one that was hard for me to start reading because I didn’t want the series to end, but honestly, I think I read most of it in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down once it got started. I know a lot of people didn’t love it as a series finale but I thought it was exactly what the series needed tbh. (I know this post is a week or two old so I don’t know if you’ve read it yet)

I haven’t read it yet! I’ll probably get to it in January. Honestly most of the TRC books end up being me putting off reading them for months and months, and then devouring them in a couple sittings haha.

WORD lmao, I’m glad I’m not alone because that’s 100% what I did with books 2-4 in the series.

Oh yeah, I think it’s been like a year and a half since I re-read the first book and continued the series. I’m finally accepting that it’s not a reflection of how good a series is, it’s just me being me and I don’t have to rush to the next book to prove I love it haha.

That was something I had to accept, too! This year in general, I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that just because I don’t binge read something, doesn’t mean I don’t love it – just like coming to terms with the fact that just because I don’t 5-star every book in a series doesn’t mean I don’t love the series! (Looking at you, PJO)
