Top Ten Tuesday was originally put together by The Broke and the Bookish and has been taken over by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s theme is a back to school/learning freebie in honor of school starting back up. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do for this one, but was easy once I realized — some of my favorite non-fiction books!
Ask Me About My Uterus
This is probably going to be one of my top books of 2018 and I can’t stop talking about it, but this was a very eye-opening read focused on one woman’s experience with endometriosis.
Quiet Rumours
Also a recent read, I found this to be a very informative book about anarcha-feminism! It’s an anthology and I didn’t connect with every piece, but it did help me better formulate a lot of the thoughts already circulating in my head and put things into a more historical perspective.
Lessons from a Child
I read this for a Teaching Writing class in college and haven’t picked it up since, but remember it being an extremely impactful read. I actually brought it with me when I moved and have it on my bookshelf at my apartment, so I should re-read it sometime!
The Man Who Listens to Horses
I grew up a Horse Girl and Monty Roberts has always been a hero of mine. He puts a lot of emphasis on actually listening to animals and learning to communicate with them in a more natural way. This is his autobiography, which I’ve read several times.
The Bird Market of Paris
This is another one I haven’t read in a solid four years or so, but also loved when I read it. I remember being wracked with emotions during my time with it. It was a difficult read, but also a really lovely one.
